Beautiful Classic Actresses
I have always had a thing for those old school actresses. They just seemed so more classy than some of the Hollywood babes today, but maybe that is just because they didn’t have a camera following them 24-7. I focused on the golden era of American cinema from 1930 until around 1960, so here a 10 of my favourite girls from that period. Enjoy!
1. Audrey Hepburn has to be one of the most elegant women ever
2. Anita Ekberg was the prototype of a sexy swedish blonde, and great in the Fellini movie “La Dolce Vita”.
3. Brigitte Bardot was every boy’s dream in the 1950s and 60s
4. No babe list is complete without Marilyn Monroe
5. Natalie Wood has that Russian fire in her eyes
6. Elizabeth Taylor was hotter than Cleopatra herself
7. Sophia Loren is maybe the hottest woman ever. Ever!!!
8. Grace Kelly would end up being a princess, and she definitely looks the part
9. Ingrid Bergman had the face of an angel
10. Ann Margret had the boys going crazy back in the day

Jayne Mansfield, Inger Stevens, Raquel Welch, Farrah Fawcett, Ursula Andress…
Ahhhh, the golden age of celebrity women.
Yeah the 60s and 70s were pretty great too! Time to put some new posts up on your blog, my friend
.
I agree with you. It’s so easy for women to be “pretty” today with makeup and plastic surgery but it takes a REAL woman to be naturally gorgeous and I really do feel like we’ve lost that essence in modern times. And with women feeling “entitled” to things BECAUSE they have a pretty face makes beauty so much more shallow and mundane.
Yes, both men and women seem to have lost a little of the grace and elegance of the past, but there are still some princesses around
. Maybe we are just too critical of our generation, but I don’t think some of today’s “stars” would have made it back then!
Aw thanks Polarbear. You’re too sweet.
I think it’s a combination of both. We criticize celebrities too much on what they are doing but I think we’ve also come to accept beauty on a wider range of meanings. Certain body types, facial features and ethnicities were not necessarily considered beautiful until our time so we do need to take that into account. People need to stop being so focused on boob jobs and the wealth of celebrities and instead look deeper into personality, acting abilities as well as their overall demeanor as a human being. And you’re right, a LOT of our “stars” today would just be washed out trash back in the old days. A lot of it also has to do with tacky reality shows that people, including myself, can’t help but watch day in and day out.
That reality thing is weird! We all hate them, but we all watch them!
Sad but so true…I don’t know how many brain cells I’ve lost watching the Jersey Shore…one can only imagine.
When we saw Marilyn Monroe, we had to say something. Marilyn Monroe had the ability to make any photographer look good.
Marylin is an icon that will be remembered for a long, long time!
Ava Gardner as well.. these is some HOT women.. Sophia Loren.. grrr.. what a woman…i’d take them over the sticks that pass for fit nowadays.
Ava was gorgeous, no doubt about that
.
I am biased as I am Italian: Sophia Loren !
You are not alone, we all love her
.
Anita Ekberg was a babe!
Got to love Swedish women!
My favorites are Greta Garbo, Carole Lombard, Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot,Claudia Cardinale, and Gene Tierney. These women were all so naturally beautiful! Great post!!
